So, I am a bit worried now that my BFF is a super model, having made her debut down in Key Largo last week. Will she still speak to the little people? Or will she be off swilling champagne with the rich and famous?

Seriously, you look fabu, Ms. Leslie!
So, I picked up my nephew at the airport yesterday afternoon. Naturally, I was an hour early because I forgot about the time change (again.) After a stop at the grocery store to stock up on soda, zebra cakes and cereal, we were home in time for dinner.

OK, he told me I look like a "soccer mom." Oy vey, I have not yet begun to process that yet. I don't think he meant it as an insult but . . . yikes!

This does not bode well for the next ten days. There will be no living with the girls when Josh goes!

What a difference a day makes

What a gorgeous day today. Wind has gone and it's a balmy 60 degrees. Hardly any surf.

Today was kind of a weird day

(And hello? why is weird spelled with the e before the i?)

Anyhoo, I started the day with yoga and not to offend anyone or anything, but two - not just one but two, mind you - of the ladies in my yoga class audibly farted. The teacher (who reminds me a lot of my good friend, Stacy, was very kind about it, saying oh it happens, etc.) And I appreciated the fact that nobody pretended it hadn't happened. But, after the second one, I thought what the heck is going on here. I said, I hope the rest of you don't feel like you have to join in. That didn't go over really well (but I thought it was pretty funny.)

It is so cold here and we have gale force winds and there is so much salt encrusted on my windows, I can barely see out. It's sort of like being on a ship.

The girls and I took a drive today and it was even more like being on a ship with my little car being batted around. We went to the car wash to get the salt and sand off and it is always entertaining to go thru a car wash with Lucy and Sophie. Great big eyes staring out the windows and you can just imagine what they're thinking . . . Lucy: oh my dog, this is the end . . . Sophie: let me out - must. be. in. the. water . . .

Long walk on the blow-y beach this afternoon while the girls cavorted (wearing my winter jacket, hat and gloves. Me, not them.)

Tomorrow, my beloved nephew, Josh comes for his Spring Break. I cannot wait to see his face.  I'll keep you posted.

Quilt Show

My parents left this morning and I will miss them. I'll miss the dog walks and I'll miss cooking dinner for them and I'll miss shopping with my mom. They are off to warmer climes and I envy them. It was 31 this morning and only up to 55 today.

So, UPS came tonight and it was like Christmas! Maia sent my quilts back after longarming them for me. A shout out to Maia Hart, quilter extraordinaire. You can find her at Alewives Fabric in Damariscotta, Maine. She does beautiful work.

So here they are sans binding. I trimmed them down first thing and I'll start getting the bindings on tomorrow. First up is the Red Onion (although I'm calling this one the Purple Onion.) I did pieces of this quilt as a demo for a class I taught for my guild so I just used my stash. It looks a little muddy to me color-wise but I can live with it.

As you can see, Sophie is my quilt model today.

This quilt is called Jelly Girl and it was a class I took from my friend, Rina, at Alewives. She and I were practically hysterical trying to lay out the half-pinwheels on the sides. Good memories.

This next little quilt was a panel I bought at Paducah last year. I think it is sweet and it will be a nice little throw if one of my nieces doesn't claim it. Maybe Fairy Princess Lucia . . .  It says "Sing Birdie" and then, "A song for me."

Here is what I put on the back. So cute.
So, this next picture is just a top so far that I am almost done with. It was a challenge quilt and is to go to a nursing home resident (unless my Mom has her way and takes it away from some poor little old lady. She can be quite insistent.) I love these Kona Bay fabrics.

It is called "Window on the East."

Had to post this picture of my sweet Miss Lucy. Would ya look at this face!!

And just one more:  Still no frizz!!!!

Mom and I went to visit the local lighthouse. Hello? Have you seen the lighthouses in Maine? This is one puny lighthouse. Apparently, it has been underwater several times due to hurricanes and was moved about five times until it landed here. Kind of lame.

Anyhoo, not to bore you with yet even more armadillos, but here is my mum posing with one. The sucker was rooting and chewing away but when she got one step too close, it stopped cold. I don't want to say I've never seen her move so fast but I will say she made a rapid retreat (ok, the woman beat feet!)
